of Hyperbaric Medical Discoveries into Clinical Practice

In order that the IHMF can continue to make the strides it has made, like providing the scientific information used to get diabetic foot wounds approved by Medicare, resources are needed to carry out this work.  It is in the hyperbaric medical community’s best interests to support this effort. 

The IHMA’s outreach efforts to other medical specialty organizations are leading to a greater understanding of what hyperbaric medicine has to offer other physicians.  This will lead to increased referrals to hyperbaric clinics.  With the additional evidence-based medicine studies through the TreatmentRegistry, the pace of translation of bench science to the bedside is increased, enhancing innovation in the hyperbaric medical field and throughout the practice of medicine.

Many Friends members are contributing as little as $10 each month so that the Foundation can provide hyperbaric treatments to Veterans, Children, Adults or Seniors.  Also a fund to provide a fund towards treatment for those who cannot afford it at the hyperbaric facility closest to them.

Hyperbaric clinics are encouraged to voluntarily donate $1 per paid treatment to the IHMF.  Payment can be sent by check or credit card at the end of each month.  Funds can also be designated to any of the various programs you wish to support.

Professional Donor Program: [link to Center for Hyperbaric Medicine/John M. Eisenberg page] For physicians, dentists, and others who do not belong to a clinic participating in the Corporate Donor program, they are encouraged to donate 25 cents from each paid treatment to the IHMF to further this work.  Payment can be sent by check or credit card at the end of each month.  Donations can be designated to any of the various programs.

Device Manufacturer Donor Program: [link to Center for Hyperbaric Medicine/John M. Eisenberg page] Donation for each chamber sold or a percentage based on the previous quarter’s sales to support IHMF’s translational medicine initiative; taking scientific knowledge and turning into new indications for HBOT to transform medical practice. For example, in 2002 IHMA submitted diabetic foot wound coverage to Medicare and achieved the first new indication for HBOT in 18 years. 

We are now moving forward with a major initiative to prevent amputations rather than the current focus by CMS on whether a Wagner Grade III wound is non healing. Also working on the National Brain Injury Rescue & Rehabilitation project to make HBOT 1.5 TM   the standard of care for chronic and acute brain injury.

One-time donations are welcome as well.
